Just keep spinning…

I first started spinning way back in 2010. I had learned how to spin using a drop spindle but when I was given an old Louet spinning wheel I never looked back!

I really love spinning but I go through phases of doing it non-stop and then not doing it again for ages. In the end, I always come back to it.

This summer I took my spinning wheel on holiday with me. I was heading off to a tiny wee cabin on the tiny wee island of Luing on the west coast of Scotland. There was a brilliant covered space outside, what I would call a “sitooterie”. I sat there in the shelter of the sitooterie, not bothered by the wind or the rain, watching the passing clouds and boats.

It’s fair to say I fell in love with spinning again on that wee island and I kept spinning all summer long. I use my handspun yarns mostly for weaving. I’ve added some to the Etsy shop for anyone who would like to try weaving with the lovely texture of handspun yarn.
