Who is Rosie and why does she think she can save the earth??
Rosamund Coyle-Bennett is an experienced educator who has worked in Scottish Education for almost thirty years. In creating Rosie Saves the Earth she combines her artistic skills and love for the natural world to promote sustainable approaches to traditional crafts.
Rosamund offers a unique space to develop your own creativity whilst learning skills you can share with others. As well as nurturing your creativity, Rosie aims to nurture your wellbeing by sharing the joy and mindfulness of making. No previous experience is required, all abilities and identities are welcome.
“I wanted to share my knowledge and passion for traditional crafts and our natural world as a way of contributing to a more sustainable planet.
I believe that although the problems we face are more than a few people can fix, we all can do a little bit to help so that we don’t feel hopeless in the midst of the crisis facing humanity.
Mother Earth will endure, she has for billions of years, but how she supports us will depend on how well we treat her. I use natural materials as much as I can and re-use and upcycle as much as possible.
I also feel the benefits of mindful making as a way of slowing down in our fast-paced world. I hope to create a nurturing space where people can come and learn, or brush up on, traditional craft skills and nourish their creativity and wellbeing in my colourful wee corner of Glasgow.”
